Five layers of technical definition.
Every procurement conversation should end with an unambiguous product brief. The exact parameters depend on the commodity, end-use, buyer and applicable regulatory or contractual requirements.
Physical quality
Moisture, foreign matter, damaged/discoloured material, broken kernels, size, weight, colour, cleanliness and uniformity.
Safety
Pesticide residues, contaminants, toxins, heavy metals, microbiological parameters and other requirements appropriate to the intended market.
Condition
Packaging, storage history, infestation status, fumigation where applicable, shelf life and transport condition.
Commercial
Quantity, tolerance, delivery point, Incoterm or domestic delivery basis, inspection, payment and documentation.

Agriweb uses applicable Indian and international references as technical anchors. BIS publishes Indian Standards for agricultural products, including maize, bajra, jowar, barley and ragi.
AGMARK's grading framework is based on sampling, physical and chemical parameters, laboratory analysis and scientifically derived grade limits.
FSSAI maintains food-product, contaminant/residue, packaging and labelling regulations; export-oriented consignments may also require destination-specific testing and documentation.
